I was really encouraged by so many of you after my last post. Telling you that I've had doubts in my life, and that I've been discouraged, at times, by the words of others was difficult. It was humbling. But, it was honest. And, many of you said you have felt the same thing in your own lives and that it encouraged you to hear a little of my story.
So, that got me to thinking about the power that we have to encourage one another. When we see gifts in our friends, let's tell them.
Do you have a friend who is an encourager? Tell him/her. Let them know what it means to you to see them encouraging others and how they are making a difference. Do you have a friend who has the gift of great counsel? Do they listen well and give great advice? Are they wise? Tell them. Are they a gifted photographer, artist, amazing mother or father, teacher, singer, community leader, blogger, friend, etc.? Tell them! I know that the negative words that are said can have such a powerful impact, almost crippling us from doing the things that we should do. But, I believe that we can overcome the negativity, and overcome those that just want to discourage us, by rising above and choosing to encourage others. I believe that God intends for us to do just that. Just a thought for this weekend.
Isaiah 40:28-31 says:
"Don't you know? Haven't you heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He doesn’t grow tired or weary. His understanding is beyond human reach, giving power to the tired and reviving the exhausted. Youths will become tired and weary, young men will certainly stumble; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will fly up on wings like eagles; they will run and not be tired; they will walk and not be weary."
And, below I share with you a photo of something I looked at everyday while in Nashville. It reminded me of several special ladies in my life who I love with all of my heart. Ladies that encouraged me every chance they got. I don't believe this sign in this place was an accident. God is reminding me that He is with me. To wait. To be ready. To encourage others and to be encouraged. Be blessed, dear friends. Love, Rebekah

Less than 2 weeks to go…

I know I promised updates. I’m not sure how many people really want all of the details. But, here goes a few:

I promised behind-the-scenes videos to folks who pre-ordered them. And, I’ve been looking for a videographer. My budget doesn’t allow for me to pay for anything other than the footage right now. But, I found a great guy who is going to shoot everything- interviews, footage of the band, producer and me while recording. And he’s a photographer, so he is going to shoot candid stills as well. I’m really happy and excited about this.
I am down to 11 songs for a 10 song album. It is really hard picking songs and leaving some behind. But, I’m really happy with the 11 we’re down to. My husband has been amazing in so many ways through all of this. He is so talented and has really helped me to make songs better than I imagined. I can’t wait to hear what Marshall and the band can do with them! I rehearse daily. I spend hours playing the piano, singing and reworking lyrics. My husband has also started working with garageband and that is a really nice way for me to hear the songs with a more finished sound. It’s a fun way to work!
I’m probably most stressed about my children. There are 4 of them. And, that’s a lot of people. A lot of very active, excited people that have places to be and things to do while momma is away. I’m nervous about that. I know in my heart of hearts that they will be fine and I’m hopeful that I will have peace about it and be able to focus on what I need to during my time in Nashville.
Friends- during this time I’m craving time and interaction with friends. I feel like this is such a life-changing experience. No matter what the outcome is, this is going to change my life. I will be different having made a full- length studio album in Nashville of all original songs that have come from my heart and soul. I know that and I’m overwhelmed and humbled by it all.
I think of you all often through this. Having so many special people a part of this makes this story and experience all the sweeter.
Blessings to you today and always,

What Happens Next??

So, my kickstarter album funding and pre-order campaign ended last week. And, I’m officially making an album with some amazing folks in Nashville. I am so excited and blessed. We start pre-production in a few weeks. Many of the over 300 people who supported the album being made by preordering have been asking “what’s next?” So, if you’re interested in knowing what happens now, I’ll be posting here.
This is all new to me. So, if you want to come along and learn with me as I go, you are more than welcome to. And, I would really love it!
Right now, I’m writing and rewriting every song. I’m looking at every note, every lyric and the soul of it all to make the best record possible.
It’s going to be an amazing adventure. Come along with me.
